I'm on the road today. So, while I suffer the slings and arrows of modern air travel... why don't you guys look at some Castles?

Thanks for the Eye Candy, John. I myself have a favorite Castle. Yes my friend's Castle at Prata Sannita in Italy (as per my prior post), is very dear and intimate to me; but it's in a foreign land. There is a Castle right in my hometown, which happens to be the biggest in the Western Hemisphere. It did its duty in defending the city against the Dutch and English repeatedly throughout the centuries; the last time being in 1898. HERE is the one and only picture of it in action, as taken from The USS Detroit. Luckily for everyone, neither the Spanish defending the fort, nor the Americans firing at it were good shots. After thousands or rounds fired, and the three hours worth of bombardment, only 2 Spanish Soldiers were KIA, and 39 Wounded. As we would call now, Collateral Damage caused 5 Civilians killed, and 18 Wounded. On the American Side, 2 KIA and 7 Wounded.

La Citadelle Cheers JMH

JMH - That's a great goat! or should I say chevre... A few years back I went to Burlington/Ethan Allen VT. Since I got in early, crossed over the border, and spent a few hours in Montréal. Some day I'll get to see more of Québec.

So, John, gimme some pics to add to the folder, eh? For that matter - anybody who's got Castle pics worth sharing, send 'em along and we'll put 'em in the folder (I can add copyright data (or you can) if you wish).

BTW, Boquisucio, s'okay to swipe those and add 'em to the folder?

Well, my personal ones of Italy are A-OK. The ones of my hometown Castle, dunno; though they may be in public dominion. However I have dozen snaps of the fortifications buried in shoe boxes. I'll hafta dig'em out.
