“...in the entire world.” Except for the lucky few, we’ve all thought that at one time or another, right? Just to help you keep things in perspective… TINS* [This Is No Sh*t--standard War Story Alert] When I first joined the Guard after the South East Asian Unpleasantness, our aviation det was strictly Old-Guy (WWII vets) and New-Guy (Vietnam Vets). Thirteen pilots, thirteen aircraft--good times, except when the weather was uncooperative. One Saturday morning, it was uncooperative. Three of us--Norm, who flew Scout ships with the First o’ the Ninth in RVN, Bill, who flew B-24s out of Libya in WWII,...

Jtg - Dunno about the specific squadron--Norm said the guy had a Strine accent. Norm's Glaswegian, so I'm not about to second-guess him.

Heh. Remember one SAR I went on around the Parrot's Beak and the Emus had some folks who joined in the fun. Strine, Canadian and Murrican (No'rn and Su'rn) accents...

Oh, yeah--we found 'em before the opposition did.

When you say B-57, I just go Awww! There exist images of me fondling my favorite bomber, a Cranberry at the Warner Robins museum. Unfortunately, those images mostly exist only on the hard drive of a cranky old laptop owned by a woman who doesn't talk to me very much, lately. Man that is a cool petting zoo for old bombers and their fans. Sadly, they've left that one outdoors for years and years, and the weathering is really getting to it. That's a shame, as it's set up kinda British-style, with the saucer-like canopy and the transparent nose, but I *think* has the rotary bomb bay.

Say, that Canberra guy wasn't from the 13th Squadron was he? (Grim Reapers, a very ancient unit as such things go)

P.S. Warner Robins Air Museum also has an English Electric Lightning, which I got to scratch on its tummy, too.
