Sigh. At least it's over for Terri.

WELL... [Jonah Goldberg] Someone's going to have to post something after that news. So: now that she has passed let us hope and pray that Michael Schiavo was right and her parents were wrong, even if we don't believe that to be the case. Rest in peace.

Indeed, blogfather. Indeed.

We'll be back with regular content tomorrow. For now, we're just bummed and hoping that we were wrong about Terri - though we think the fight needs fighting, and isn't over.

Well said, John. May she and her family find peace somehow.

Take consolation that she is in a better place. Her trials are over. She is at peace. I won't comment on the politics or the ethics of the situation, nor will I give the 20/20 view of hindsight. I bid those with heavy hearts, turn your face to the sun, let it warm you. Rest easy your hearts today. Tomarrow, you may gird your loins for battle... But today, I wish you peace.

This is just the beginning. It takes courage to take a stand, for whichever side, but I believe in life. I believe that we have a duty to protect the weak, the defenseless from those who are cruel. It just may be that Terri's condition was a test for us all, as a nation and where we stand on protecting them. Michael Schiavo 'right?' About what?

I think he means we HOPE that Michael Schiavo was right about his wife's wishes, and right in saying that she was truly brain dead. And further, maybe he's referring to the hope that there was moral rightness in what was done. I'm just inferring from his statements, but that's what it meant to me. (And for the record, I have very serious doubts about Mr. Schiavo's "rightness" in any of those areas, but now's not the time to debate).

Cricket, FbL - that's how I took it. Hoping that Schiavo was correct and her parents wrong in the narrow case of Terri specifically - not in the broader sense of the issue in general. IOW, that Terri really was already gone, and would have wanted the rest to go, too.
