Hey - you over there, get with the Program!

Wheelgun has an interesting graph and post to show regarding gun ownership and crime.

The answer, of course, is not sympathetic to banner's needs, so they will no doubt fund some more studies until one does support their theme - then it will become the *only* sufficiently rigorous and therefore definitive study, all others being bogus.

The real reason I decided to link to it - since I expect most of my 2A-fascinated readers have already seen this discussed elsewhere is to point out the trend-line of gun ownership, now having reached around 4.1 or so per 1000 people.

Well, in the increment that includes Castle Argghhh!, the number is more like 6.8 per 1000, and that's assuming I'm carrying the whole load, which means that some a LOT of you are slackers.

Get with the program. Sheesh, people, I can't do it all myself!

More Guns, More Happy Days! from Pirates! Man Your Women! on January 17, 2005 11:14 PM

It seems that the studies show that the more guns that private citizens have, the safer everyone is. Duh. Why do people have such a problem understanding this simple fact? Would you be stupid enough to break into someone's house knowing that the... Read More

AHHHHHHHHHH! FLASHBACK! Where'd you ever get the pic of my neighbor's attic (ca 1958)?

Hell, that's our basement!

I've always wondered what happened to his house after the sinkhole opened up under it...

Just out of curiosity, how many of your collection are currently capable of firing the appropriate ammunition? And of the number that are not capable of firing, how many are kept non-firing because of legal requirements as opposed to simple age and parts issues? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Could we get a run-down on the C&R goodies in front of the flag?

Hang in there. We are trying. Ruger, Mk. II, P85, Mini 14 (Please don't tell Kim) Mini 30, 10-22 & a Marlin .22 bolt for initial training of children & GFW who want to have some fun. What shall I add on BAG day, April 15th. A Ruger P345?

OK - so our house only has 4 Ruger M77 (.300, .270, 6mm and 22-250), 2 Ruger Red Label shotguns (his and hers), 1 Ruger Security-Six .357 revolver, 1 S&W .40 and 1 S&W 9mm. Oh, wait, I almost forgot my .22 target pistol (S&W) :-) Pretty pedestrian compared to you guys. But, then again, I'm not exactly hurting the average ;-)

Looks like John's got a date with the calculator. But if the visitor curve screams skyward, you guys are gonna have to start kit-building. My miniscule collection is DEWATS ('cept for the edged toys), but sufficiently intimidating...

On the flag, from top to bottom: Tower Enfield 3-band musket. Snider Conversion rifle Martini-Henry MkII Martini-Henry MkIV Charger-Loading Lee-Enfield Lee-Metford Carbine Lee-Enfield #1 MkIII (first model, no '*'s) Pattern 14 Lee-Enfield #1 MkIII "YL" grenade launching rifle #1 MkIII*** with wire-cutting attachment. No4MkI with early cruciform spike bayonet. No5 MkI jungle carbine. No4 MkII L1A1 On the floor, left to right: Bren MkI, MG34, right side, Bren MkII on tripod in AA configuration.

Well, saving me from math snarks - I only counted live, shootable (even if I wouldn't, some of them) firearms. I didn't count swords, knives, clubs, or deactivated explosive ordnance. To answer your question, off the top of my head (which means at worse, this is a *low* accounting...) Corrugated jacket Vickers Machine gun Smooth Jacker Vickers Machine gun (less tripod) Browning M1919A6 Machine gun Madsen M1947 machine gun Bren Mark I Bren Mark II Sten Mark II Sten Mark III Sten Mark V Lanchester SMG Mat 49 SMG MG 34 RPD DP Maxim M1910 Erma 81mm mortar 60mm mortar M2 3inch mortar Japanese knee mortar 2inch mortar (long version) Spanish 3.5inch bazooka US 3.5inch bazooka RPG7 RPG2 Beretta SMG 60mm mortar M19 BAR 57mm Recoiless Rifle M18 84mm Recoiless Rifle M2 (Carl Gustav) Anyone wants to donate, still want MG42, Lewis, coupla Beretta's, Browning 1917, Browning M2, Breda, Sagger w/rail, Vigneron, MP40, Grease Gun, Berthier. All available in the market - just not affordable with Castle finances at the moment. Well, some are, but I'm holding off for shootables - especially with BAG Day coming up.

Oops. Forgot PPSh41 and Suomi. Add PPSh43 to the want list.

Oh, and a VZ58. I can afford the dummy - but anyone who wants to contribute a shootable semi-auto Vz58 or BAR to the Arsenal -well, you'd be pals!

If you like listening and shooting large caliber then go to http://www.rmfcsa.org/. They do this every year! Cheers
