We may be about to bring another lost warrior home...

Remains found in Iraq might be those of LCDR Scott Speicher, shot down the first night of Desert Storm.

If this is the best answer, we can only hope for resolution for his family.

Leave no man behind.

Well, I guess that's good news??? Serious questions regarding the downing of his plane and the lack of effort to recover him or the plane have already been asked. Perhaps locating his remains will help answer some of those questions. If it isn't him, maybe it's another missing American soldier. As much as I don't want it to be true, if it isn't Speicher, maybe it's Matt Maupin. Matt's Mom's house is just a stone's throw away from mine. He's been missing for some 8 months now, I think. Their house is adorned with a huge American flag pole and a giant wooden cut-out yellow ribbon with lights outlining it. I don't even know how many flags and ribbons are in the yard - it's covered with them. The last confirmed report from him was a video taken by his captors in which he states his name, rank and hometown. An unconfirmed video appears a few months later, showing the back of a soldier as he was shot in the head. No one has ever been able to confirm the identity of the soldier in the video, or even if it was an American soldier. We pray daily for his safe return, but if he doesn't come home alive, we still want his remains back on US soil. I'm sure the Speicher's feel the same way. Let's hope this discovery brings closure for one family or the other. Pray.
