Tankers running through your positions knocking over your aiming posts and collimators? Did some signal unit just set up some huge farking antenna (read: target) back by the battalion trains? Were the log weenies unable to tell the difference between M1 105mm HE and M393 105mm HE? Have you thought of using a big old 18th Century mortar as a punchbowl for that? I seem to recall reading that Washington and his guys did so.

I went to Kings College in Halifax which has close ties to the navy. In WWII it was an officer's training facility and listed as HMCS Kings. Somewhere along the line, the Nazis published that the scholl had been sunk off Iceland. Anyway, we had a traditional party punch called gunpowder punch due to the 7-2-1 ratio. In the case of the punch it was red wine, port, brandy. Mulling spices and old apples added. Served warm.

It comes from the Brits, which is where the 'e' comes from, and it's much more fun to make it yourself... the gentle sigh from the fermentation when you open up the container... good muzzle blast!

You can get this ready made in Savannah at The River House and The Shrimp Factory. Excellent beverage. Potent too. They leave out the "e" Chatham Artillery Punch.
