And while it has an "ugly duckling" feel to it, the Douglas TBD Devastator has a history of courage associated with it that overrides any fault of the aircraft itself.

It's Countess Maria Fede Caproni-Armani, and last I heard, she's still alive, and very pleasant company, too, if you get a good introduction.

Oops again! Somebody slap me, please. I'll say in my defense, that that woman leaning against the wing of that airplane does resemble the Caproni heiress to an amazing degree. That airplane, I must say after having clicked on the link, is obviously a recent replica.

Jeebus! It ain't bad enough that I confused the image of one airplane with another, I've also confused the image of one woman with that of another, a far more serious bad deed. In my defense I must say that the woman leaning against the leading edge of the wing, there, looks very like the Caproni heiress in her picture on the Website I can no longer find. Help!

Oh, yeah, she's a descendent of the Caproni family, maintains an interesting museum with some rare old original airplanes, might even be a Contessa, a very cool lady any way you look at her, wish I could remember her URL!
