Until the Western nations can build a small-arms round that turns into Key Lime pie midair before hitting a non-combatant, incoming fire has right of way. Now THAT's a hoot. On way too many levels to analyze. Go find out the context here, at BabblingBrooks. Oh! Yeah! Happy Birthday, Harvey!...

Was not Sweden, 10 or 12 years ago, trying to develop a rifle bullet, made of copper or something, with which they could shoot you, and it wouldn't hurt too much?

I recall reading about some people in Somalia or somesuch E. African country hearing that US troops were going to show up, and they'd better watch out, because our guys were equipped with the latest "less-than-lethal" weapons. IIRC, the locals thought this was hilarious and planned to show up in huge crowds, knowing they wouldn't get killed, just irritated.

Do not some people understand that the Third World folks grow up in the real world as it used to be for all of us 200 years ago? I think lots of them are naturally a lot tougher than most of us, just from growing up in a hard-scrabble society.
