A good read.

The Army's officlal unclassified After Action Review of Operation Iraqi Freedom is up on the net.

I tried hard to get into this study group, but I wasn't able to swing it. But a bunch of my old Army buddies helped write it, and while it is of course an 'official' version, it's NOT just meaningless drivel published to polish the image.

You can find it here: On Point.

Do you think it's prudent for our military to post something like this onto the web for all the world to see -- particularly our enemies -- or am I just being overcautious? I'm not saying that our military needs to classify ever lunch order, but shouldn't the lessons we learn in Iraq be kept on the down low?

All the really good lessons, are. This went through a thorough vetting process, and there is little in here that isn't open source, anyway. The classified version is a much more interesting read. If they were concerned that there was operational info in here that needed dissemination to the Army but not to the public, there are several venues through which that can be accomplished. One of the reasons that I caveated my intro with 'official' is this is what the Army WANTS us, and our adversarys, to know.

Good gouge. A little too "Go Army rah rah" to be a good history, though. Interesting the way that they address the whole "we wanted more troops" thing.
