Here's the Army's 15-6 report from one of the abuse investigations.

It's up on MSNBC. I assume the Army released it. MSNBC's post is here.

John - if this is what you were trying to point me to - MSNBC had already changed locations on it. Regardless, hat tip for alerting me!

It's a rough read in places. If you're already stressed (Boudicca) you might want to just skip it until you're ready.

I haven't fully digested it, so I don't have any comments yet. You get to draw your own conclusions without any pressure from me!

UPDATE: Whoever released it screwed up or took a huge risk. It's got classified info in it. If you're reading it from a Gov't computer over lunch - don't download it.

Jed Babbin over at National Review Online writes today that he has a copy of the February 26th Army investigation report on the abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. He's calling for harsh, swift punishment for the perpetrators... Read More

Straight from John of Argghhh! and MSNBC comes the report (less annexes) on the prisoner debacle. It is a necessary read, just to find out what was known and what was ignored by the chain of command. I have it,... Read More

Duly noted and skipping it. -D.

I'm not sure stressed is the right word, that kind of implies anxiety. I'm completely irritated, disappointed, and dismayed how this whole thing is getting worse. The excellent postings you have here on what our troops are doing is what I grew up with and know of from our great men and women in our military. The thought that a handful of miscreants has created an atmosphere where their lives could possibly be even more in jeopardy (if that were possible) and that the cause and what they fight for with their lives, could have a serious black eye, just really burns me up. The added fact that there is a real possiblity that the chain of command could disappoint us further by not having Leavenworth be the final destination of these thugs is just more than I can fathom. So, still, Yes, I cannot read it. :) Thanks for the heads up. Stress just doesn't seem to adequately encapuslate it all, but only because there doesn't seem to be one word that does.

I read it. I'm pissed. BG Karpinski needs to have her head handed to her (especially after her ass-covering remarks to the media this past week). What an utterly incompetent oxygen thief of a CG she's turned out to be. MG Fast sure didn't help the over-crowding and escape problems either. Bad, bad, bad news.

If I remember correctly, Laws of War is a skill level 10 common task that is to be trained to standard to the troop by the first line superviser(squad leader/vehicle commander). The solders noted in the report should and will be held to account and their supervisors should be slammed for darliction of duty. Every leader in the chain of command of the units involved should at the very minimun receive placed in their OMPF, a letter of repramand and or relief for cause NCOER/OER. There is no excuse for this to have happened.

1) Can I please get the rest of the report if you have it? It got cut off by MovableType. 2) The entire chain needs to have their heads handed to them. Not impressed by BG Karpinksi, and that SGM seems to typify the leaderships' "CYA, do nothing" attitude.

Sorry, went and found it at MSN. I don't even have words to describe what I am thinking about this as an officer.

Good move taking it off. I copied it from the MSN site and was reading through it. There's more than several paragraphs labeled (S/NF). I was just stopping by to recommend you take it down. Whoever leaked the entire report is going to have some real bad days ahead of him (or her.)

Also: Take John's advice to heart if you are working on a government computer. If you have a file on your hard drive that contains classified information, your entire hard drive becomes classified material. That means the network security guys come, confiscate your hard drive and put it in a safe until it can be destroyed or put into a classified workstation. No files from a classified system are allowed on a non-classified system.
