Today should be a Good Day.

As it will involve shooting this:

Remington Zouave Rifle (Repro)

This:

Enfield 3-Band Rifle (Repro)

And This:

Charleville Fusil (Repro - we don't shoot the antique blackpowder, folks. Hard to replace)

Okay, so the last one isn't Civil War. I wanna shoot it anyway.

Taking some Japanese visitors from a Rotary-sponsored exchange group out shooting blackpowder Civil War era weapons. The above are my contribution, there will also be a Springfield M1861, and a Sharps and a Spencer.

A Repro Zouave was my first blackpowder experience (1985). Part of the fun was discovering (firsthand) why I should use Pyrodex. Buddy received a pound of FFg when he bought the rifle so we worked hard to use it up. If I remember correctly we cleaned the bore every four or five shots. Enfield 3-band: now I'm excited. Need at least a proper AAR. Cheers JMH

Hmmm Spencer... I had an "original repo" Spencer built by a Belgian company named Falisse and Trappman in 1873. It had a centerfire breechblock, never did figure out what caliber it was. I sold it in a fit of stupidity back in the 80's. I still have two of my Sharps, a three-band and a carbine.

Mmmmmmm - Spencers. That was fun shooting yesterday! Yes, John, AAR of some sort to follow!
