I gotta run. Yer up! - The Armorer

Ralph Peters in Baghdad writes about Iraq, the U.S. media and civil war.

According to the AP, "Suicide attackers" kill another U.S. diplomat.

NYC Women...and guns! - FbL

Setting aside the policy implications - where do I get one of these loans? I'm afraid I can't just dump Citi though, that's where my corporate 401 sits...

Trying to make the convoy business safer (*and* proceeding from the assumption the next war will be like this one). Baby steps. Next, to get it to the point where the manned vehicle doesn't have to be in a predictable spot, and then to eliminate the need for a manned vehicle at all. Of course, I'm wondering if that, in the end, doesn't make taking down a convoy *easier*. The whole FCS/Robotics thing is... the birth of Bolos.

And, as we spend the money on that stuff, we're going to mortgage the present to fund the future. I dunno. I'm still thinking that FCS units are going to need a little Cavalry to come to the rescue. Of course, that will be the Air Force, right? -The Armorer

Usually I hate getting the "404 - Page not found" message. But not this time.
Almost forgot ... H/T to Appalachian GunTrash!

*A term of art from the artillery. Harassment and Interdiction Fires.

Back in the day, when you could just kill people and break things without a note from a lawyer, they were pre-planned, but to the enemy, random, fires at known gathering points, road junctions, Main Supply Routes, assembly areas, etc - to keep the bad guy nervous that the world around him might start exploding at any minute.

Not really relevant to today's operating environment, right? But, it *is*

The UAVs we fly over Afghanistan and Pakistan looking for targets of opportunity are a form of H&I fires, if you really want to parse it finely. We just have better sensors and fire control now.

I call the post that because it's random things posted by me and people I've given posting privileges to that particular topic. It's also an open trackback, so if (Don Surber uses it this way a lot) someone has a post they're proud of, but it really isn't either Castle kind of stuff, or topical to a particular post, I've basically given blanket permission to use that post for that purpose. Another term of art that might be appropriate is "Free Fire Zone".
