More Random Thoughts...

I wonder where Hillary and Barny Frank are? Both have been conspicuous by their absence at the national level (at least from where I sit in Colorado). Does the first not want to help too much? Is the second considered a liability with Catholics, conservative Protestants and others? Both are articulate and can whip up a crowd...hmmm.

OK, let's say Bush wins this one.

The MSM is still out there and their rage will reach white hot levels. Fine. What to do. What to do. Hope the conservative galaxy is thinking real hard about trying to leverage the Blogosphere RIGHT NOW to blunt the inevitable propoganda thrust by the likes of Chris Matthews, Punch Sulzberger, et al., propel the agenda forward and soften the Democratic opposition 4 years hence.

I think Dan Rather will retire.

I think Walter Cronkite will be diagnosed with dementia.

I think Bush will really shake up the Cabinet. Ashcroft's gone--good man but probably tireeed of being Mr. Lightening Rod. Others will bail or be gently dismissed--it's the Bush Technique: loyalty until it's right and proper to ask staffer X to exit, stage right. (Possibles: SecState (medium), SecTrans (high), SecDef (low-medium))

Candidates in '08...

Giuliani, Owens so far. Favorite--Guiliani. Reasons: Mean as a snake; articulate, proven executive; fears no one; all scandals have been fairly well aired...at least the ones we know about. Owens--good running mate (the nice guy; quick on his feet; also articulate; breathtakingly patient with interviewers, including foreign hostiles (BBC, among others))

Planning the campaign starts on 4 Nov, 2004 (everyone needs a days rest...I'll allow 'em that). Better think of the main battle themes now. Recommendations: enlist Morris, Horowitz; further list to follow.

Help me out here...

it seems to me that all this talk about military records of our presidential canidates is nonesense. Neither of them have an honorable record. Bush is right up there with draft dogers as he got into the air gaurd when it was impossible (who says rich daddy) and kerry has a dishonorable. Now, at least kerry has some legitimate reasoning at the time for what he did. it was 30 years ago.......The sad part is were electing schmucks into office. i know who's gonna lose after this election. Us.

oh one last thing. I would like to call to mind a quote for you. its from budah, im catholic but i have seen the eastern philosphys and i do agree with them and i agree with this, and i think you may also see some light in it.

"do not believe any one tells you, not even i, if it does not make good common sense."

Now, with that in mind, take a look at everything that has happened since and before 9/11. Ask the questions no one wants to ask and see what makes good common sense, never forget human nature and always look to see who had the most to benifit from anything, because in human nature, that is largley the culprate (awful spelling i know.)

Lousy logic/thought process to match the spelling. Flush out your headgear, bro!!

Dear Lord, your blog is attracting afternoon 419 drunks from Zimbabwe with abysmal spelling skills. Must be a Pubic Skrool Gradiate.

As to Budda, he said many things. One of which is most famous and that saying is - Die Leftists, Die. Thou art a foul smelling corpse and must be heaved unto the river.

No really. It's in the Upanishads.

This is the nice thing about blogs...you meet the most interesting people. Tom, who must be a fan of e e cummings, talks about the candidates' military records...must have been something I didn't say (in that post, anyway)..like the one hand clapping thing, I guess. Booodah! Booodah Booodah!

Oh, wait...that's tooooga...

I particularly enjoyed the innuendo--best channeling of Walter Cronkite I've seen today.

Anyway, it's fun to read. Heh.

Beth is getting hit with high-quality comments, too. Most of them referring to her in scatalogical terms. I wonder why we don't get that here? There's a certain breed of internet troll (both sides of the line) that seem to delight in picking on women.

Anyway, must be the dems get-out-the-vote let's google for anti-Kerry people day.

Instapilot, can I change your ticket? I'd like to see Rudy and Condi. Just my $.02 and probably about what it's worth. I'd just love to see it...

Instapilot briefed on October 30, 2004 11:13 PM

MyssiAnn---How about Condi for SecState. Heh.

John---Hey, man...these are people who would ratrher pick on women. Know what I mean?

Casey Tompkins briefed on October 31, 2004 12:59 AM

Hey, Instapilot; how about Condi on "Girls Gone Wild in DC?" Heh.

Sorry, yes, I am a perv. She's smart and sexy, what can I say?

Can't add much to your suggestions right now, except that I was thinking of Bill Owens in the #1 spot, myself. Do you think, honestly, that a mayor could get real traction in a presidential campaign? Ok, he was the mayor New York City, and was in charge of a lot more than Howard Dean ever was, but still... :)

For those who haven't read much about the man, here's Owen's 2004 State of the State address.

MyssiAnn briefed on October 31, 2004 11:09 AM

Condi Rice would be an excellent Sec. State, Instapilot, but I think it would do the GOP a whole lot of good to put a black woman in the VP slot on their ticket. Why? Well, the dems have never nominated a black, despite Jesse's best efforts and she would take a certain portion of the "women's vote" (which as a woman I think is not as large as the DNC and feminists want to believe) away from Hillary by virtue of showing herself to be consistently smarter.

Heartless Libertarian briefed on October 31, 2004 01:25 PM

Personally, I think a potentially better place for the GOP to employ Guiliani would be against Hillary for the Senate in 2006. That would be a brutal fight, but given Guiliani's strength in NYC I think he'd come out on top.

And if Hillary can't even hold on to her Senate seat, no way in hell will bhe be running for Pres in 2008.

The biggest plus to running Rudi for Pres in '08 is he'd stand a good chance of pulling NY state into the GOP electoral vote column. I don't think the Dems can win the Electoral College without NY.

Ben briefed on October 31, 2004 03:35 PM

I'm going to echo the Giuliani/Rice ticket. If Hillary's gearing up for a run in '08, we'll need a popular New Yorker to split that demographic and a woman to crack another part. If it's Condi, we get the added benefit of bringing in a chunk of the African-American vote, as well. If that ticket succeeded, it might permanently break the African-American vote away from the Dems. After all, when was the last time *they* elected a minority to a national office?

John of Argghhh! briefed on October 31, 2004 03:48 PM

Well, I'm not sure if the Senate counts, but if it does... I'm guessing 2004, Barack Obama! Who, if he can avoid being a mindless shill dancing to the tune of Jesse and Co., has the charisma and story to resonate against Condi and Colin.

Of course, I'll shut up, what with my tin ear and all... (sniff, sniff)

cw4billt briefed on November 1, 2004 01:11 AM

Giuliani and Schwartzkopf.

Condi for State and Dave Hackworth for SecDef.

Fake everybody out by pre-empting Obama for HEW.

Make Hillary the Ambassador to France, then build a 200-foot wall around the embassy.

Then fill it with water.
