I Can Think of a Better Way to Spend this Money...

OK, so maybe this bike is worth eight grand. I wouldn't know. But I can think of a more productive way to use the cash. At least I'd be able to expand my marketable skills.

I guess when you have that much money, skills are sort of irrelevant.

Now, I am the first to stand up to defend rich people. For the record, I'm not one. I work because I have to. But to begrudge someone for being successful seems to be a common Democrat meme these days. I never really understood the class warfare thing anyway...jealousy over another's success is (to me) unbecoming. Beside, it's counterproductive economically, if not politically.

If you want to buy an $8,000 bike, because you can, knock yourself out. But please don't try to imply that I'm a s**tbird who deserves to get his ass handed to him on April 15th because I make a certain amount of money. For your information, I'd like to make over $200K per annum but quite honestly have considered not trying too hard 'cause my reward will be: 1) a higher tax bracket and 2) becoming an involuntary member of the top-hat-and-spats wearing criminal class caricature KEdwards is so good at crafting.

Well, to be honest, consequence #2 is one that wouldn't stop me, but it irks me nonetheless.

I'd at least like a good chance of earning the money...a chance diminished by a Kerry vision for America...someone who says he'll "fight" for the middle class. Who do you think hires the middle class, you buffoon?

At least I will have earned the money.

Oh yeah, I'd like my kid to have a good shot at that 200 grand as well...Go Bush!

Eight. Thousand. Dollars?

A complete, custom, hand-made bike with the best parts in the world shouldn't cost over half that. Now, evidently Kerry's bike is a "competition bike" of some sort, but, well, it's still pointless, since he's just not that good, by which I mean good enough that it would make any difference. (Nothing against him; just that nobody that isn't a professional is that good.)

Shoddy money-management skills on Kerry's part, I guess, if he actually paid 8k for that. Unless, that is, he plans to become a professional or dedicated amateur (professional without pay) bike racer... which I somehow doubt.

Still, yeah, it's his money to throw away. It just doesn't reassure me as to his Presidentiality.

What really galls me is that the Dems keep up their mantra that "George Bush is out of touch," by which I assume they mean out of touch with the life of the average American. Yet here's their candidate riding a bicycle that costs more than I paid for my first car. Heck, you could pay for a year or two of tuition at a state college for the cost of that bike.
And Kerry is the kind of rich guy that the Left complains most about-someone who inherited his wealth (via his wives). At least W, Cheney, and even Edwards earned their money.

Well, it's his money (I guess) and he can spend it however he wants. I don't care if he paid $20K for his bike. The guys who made it got paid, the people they bought parts from got paid... etc.

However, I think his view on taxes is outrageous and repugnant. BTW - according to the IRS charts, the ACTUAL income for people he wants to tax at a higher rate is $148K for a single person or $180K for a married couple. (the $200K figure is fudging a little - are we surprised???). Those are the people Kerry considers to be "rich" like him... laughable if it wasn't so very sad.

I think I saw recently (on Mr.Boortz's site?) a quotation from somebody whose name I don't remember. It went, IIRC,

"The income tax is not a tax on the rich; it is a tax on those who are trying to become rich."

P.S. We actually do have a tax on "the rich" in FL. It's called the "Intangible Tax", or something like that. Basically, it's a tax on yer bank acct. stocks, bonds, whatyacallit etc. A property tax on certain kinds of wealth.

The good Senator seems to be your classic Sunday rider, expensive bike, expensive jersey..none of it worn or dirty. Cellphone stuck to his ear. Lame. I get as much enjoyment out of my $300 (Cdn!) bike. And I probably use it a heck of a lot more (just under 5000 kilometres on it last year).

Probably a gift from his wife...

His whole lifestyle is a gift from his wife.

You can't afford a Gulfstream jet on a Senate salary.
