The 1st Debate.

One word. Pissant. I was part of a Yahoo Messenger group lead by Joanie of Da Goddess. That was her assessment. Good enough for me.

Great Job, John. Since you said, 6 months after you take office, you will withdraw from Iraq, seemingly without a qualifier - the troops will enter CYA status the day after the election, if you win. Way to go. They will pretty much immediately quit fighting - knowing that you are going to quit. They will get cautious. And, if the bad guy keeps fighting, that will get more of 'em killed.

Way to inspire your soldiers, Senator.

And now the terrorists know exactly how long they have to hold out.

Good grief.

Update. Jake scores in his comment. I'll plead flushing toilet. My point, more properly put, is that by not setting a condition other than a day on the calendar, Kerry has told the bad guys in Iraq: "Hang on for six months, and we'll leave." Heck, if I was the bad guys, I'd start behaving the day Kerry was elected, should it come to that. I'd bide my time, build my arsenal, and wait six months.

I've had some more time to think about it.

Nothing changes for the decideds. The President did okay, but not as well as I'd hoped. Kerry, really, did about the same. Nothing he said influenced me to change my mind about how he's going to approach the GWOT, which is my issue #1. I know what he wants to do to the judiciary, which is my issue #2. And I know he'll empty my basement given the chance, which is issue #3.

I think anyone undecided going into last night, probably came out undecided after last night.

Conventional wisdom calls that a win for the President - but hell, the whole thing makes me tired.

Kerry IS a pissant.

And he went from pale white to oompa loompa orange in less than an hour. I'm impressed.

Without qualifier?
KERRY: The time line that I‘ve set out—and again, I want to correct the president, because he‘s misled again this evening on what I‘ve said. I didn‘t say I would bring troops out in six months. I said, if we do the things that I‘ve set out and we are successful, we could begin to draw the troops down in six months.

What an effite liberal snob. He had a manicure and spray on tan before the debate. That's more makeup than a lot of women I know. The only thing that changes more than his position is his choice of foundation. What a UN whoring little bitch. He bobbed and weaved a hundred ways tonight. Johnny, the reason people hated Vietnam vets is you stood in front of the world and told them what a bunch of baby killing animals the US military is.

Kerry couldn't lead a five man swift boat thirty years ago as a young idealist. After twenty years of simpering and Kennedy ass kissing, I wouldn't vote for him to lead the way out of a paper bag.

W didn't looked quite as presidential in the split screen. When he wasn't speaking, he looked a bit "deer in headlights"-like a couple of times. He'll need to work on that for the next debate. And he *almost* mixed up Saddam and Usama, which was certainly not good.

To be fair, though, the President did not do well. Interjecting Poland (a place in which I worked and love very much) as the next best member of the Alliance after the UK was not strong.

It is true that the Kerry plan does see a shift in Iraq policy but can the population be stuck with the one approach simply because it is in play as defined by the present leader? Aside from the support of one cadidate or anoter how does your nation (you know I am Canadian) feel about that as a general principle given the democratic right and responsibility to weigh options every four years? Can a democratic nation reject a war leader ever, then? Even Churchill was votes out wasn't he?
