A little tripping around the blogroll this morning.

SGT Hook, the First Sergeant of a Chinook unit currently serving in Afghanistan, answers your questions. While I doubt this, if I have any readers who labor under the delusion that enlisted soldiers are uneducated, unthinking, brutal drones... well, you obviously don't read too many milbloggers and certainly not Hook!

Sir George, over at Misha's, examines the French Government's Moral Compass and is still, well, unimpressed shall we say, that John Kerry wants to hold them up as an exemplar of good moral positioning on things genocidal. Sir George then goes on to examine a Brit's view of what is going on in the Sudan, and, well, finds the position of anti-interventionists just the same ol' same ol' - far better that the indigenes suffer indignity and death than there possibly be any positive effect that might redound to (shudder) capitalists or anything remotely whiffing thereof. As long as anti-capitalists are doing it, well, it's okay. Eric Hobsbawm would be pleased.

For an alternative view on this subject from our neighbors up north (despite some seemingly obligatory (and uninformed) snarking at the US, visit this little column by Jennifer Welsh in the Globe and Mail. Not that Damian Penny wasn't on it earlier.

The Queen of all Evil is (gasp!) CENSORING TROLLS! She's also a bit annoyed along with a good chunk of the blogosphere with Atlas Lines shipping company for screwing (and apparently defrauding) Operation Give. And, as SGT Hook reminds me, Operation ShoeFly (shoes for kids) has shoes in those containers as well. Go - call Atlas, and give 'em a piece of your mind (and if you are a lawyer looking for some pro-bono work...)

If you don't want to go read the links to get the info, here it is:

Atlas Line (http://atlas-line.com) President: Alicia Ludwig

Atlas Line (USA), Inc.
650 Atlanta South Parkway, Suite 500
Atlanta, GA 30349

email: info@Atlas-Line.com

Phone: 404-766-4676
Fax: 404-209-8493

If you're in the Atlanta area, send off a letter to the editor. Call the local TV types who investigate fraud. Put some pressure on to make Atlas come clean.

Graumagus at Frizzensparks has some cuisine suggestions. He also sends me cool pictures! Be warned, the Grey Mage uses colorful language... if you are of a delicate nature, well, you were warned.

Blackfive is busy helping his wife deliver their daughter... while they are doing that, he left this story about a homecoming that was a little better than the one the soldier got in Seattle.

Harvey of Bad Example, channeling Owen of Boots and Sabers, sends us to this: The Kerry Doctrine (link not for the faint of heart). He then offers some advice on how to blog well. Based on my sins, I'm the exception that proves the rule.

Crap, I have to go to work now.

I've got Atlas Line's email address up if anyone wants to send them a note. I have shoes in those shipping containers!

I love censoring trolls!

Just remember, those guidelines are under ideal conditions, and "I don't feel like it" qualifies as an exception under the busy/lazy exemption ;-)
