Sunday Morning Coffee and Blogs.

Greyhawk of the Mudville Gazette and Milblogs has three good 'uns. Two regarding the recently hyped survey of military morale in Iraq (not as bad as reported, not as good as we'd like - which in the situation we find ourselves in in Iraq, is probably expected). Still fodder for Abizaid to smack some contractors and commanders around. Start here, then go here. His other good bit is in trying to enlist you in the fight to help returning Guardsmen's jobs intact.

Don Sensing has more on the same subject.

Jen Martinez notes that a new enemy of the US has declared himself and declared war by proxy. I missed the part where God declared war these days, but apparently Abdul-Aziz Rantisi has a "hot-line" connection to the Heavenly War Room.

With the help of Mark Steyn, Baldilocks takes down Clarke and gives a high five to Condi Rice.

Phil Carter at Intel Dump takes a look at the Marines in Iraq and how fares the "kinder, gentler" approach. And the difficulties inherent therein.

DarthVob has a punch-up with a commenter regarding his post on the leadership failures revolving around the ambush of the 507th MT Co. I agree with Darth in most aspects, and especially about the training of officers. However, I sit close to the people who are redesigning that training, and I think Darth will see some improvement in the near future.

Kim du Toit is eagerly anticipating the ability for selective take-down of undesirables.

The Imperial Animatrix is *still* really peeved with Kerry. And has some analysis of the English language, to boot!

Misha's pissed. Hmmm, still pissed. And, yep, dang, he's STILL pissed!

The Commissar approvingly notes Terry McAuliffe's good socialist sense of humor and class.

Susie was visited by a typical troll. Sigh. When do I get my chance to use the right-wing's one-half brain?

The Bejus Pundit has an uncharacteristically wordy rant about JfK.

Sgt Hook is still busy getting his birds and birdmen set up in the 'Stan.

And, my last stop with the Sunday Morning Coffee, Matty at Blackfive also picks a nit with JfK. How are the LaMaze classes coming, Matt?

Kindler, gentler approach? he-he-he! I haven't read that yet but I'm agonna' go there now.

You might wanna' stroll through some of the Marine Blogs and see what the attitude is there.

(Mike's site doesn't seem to load in my browser right now but he had a good discussion of what's going on as well)

The Marines are ATTACKING in every stronghold in their various quadrants. Probably one of the biggest offensives since the war began but don't expect to find a bunch of press on it. That would be too positive! Couple that with the deployment of the 24 MEU/SOC in the Stan with the Spring Offensive there and it gives a pretty damn good view of a push to kill people and break things! Be afraid. Be VERY afraid! :-o - See Ya' J.

OOPS! Sorry, the 24MEU is in Haiti. I meant the 22MEU/SOC in the Stan.

Senility again! ;-)

OK, I read Philip's stuff and he does a fair job BUT he misses the main thrust. The Marines have to remove the bad guys and stabilize their various quadrants BEFORE they can use the soft glove approach. The only way to achieve the stability they seek is by doing what Marines do best - exterminate with prejudice! There have been massive firefights all over the Marine's area of ops and they are NOT defensive responses. Flat out, they are search and destroy control measures. There is a new sheriff in town and that's simply all there is to it!

The part that chaps my shorts is mostly the waste. My son, Da Grunt, is fighting down the same streets and alleyways that he fought down before. There are numerous opinions as to why this is and some of them make allot of tactical sense but it leaves more questions than answers for me!

Now go try to find this stuff in the press. If you don't read Blogs you wouldn't even know there is even an offensive going on! :-(

You know, I hit this post sometime this morning, and have had a RIOT of a time reading through those pages and associated links today intermixed with the baseball game and the usual Sunday stuff. There is some truly funny stuff there. Thanks John.
