Around the roll today...

BlackfivePaddy O'Tater Tot is conducting a casting call for Animal House. Nominate your favorite bloggers for roles in the movie. D-Day actually fits me best overall - but he's way too cool and I'm not - so what's left for me is Flounder, Niedermeyer, and Dean Wormer.

From the Flea, via Meatriarchy ( I would rather have been a tank, too...):

What Video Game Character Are You? I am a Base-defender.I am a Base-defender.

What's mine is mine, and I make sure everyone knows it. Nobody invades my space without permission - I'd destroy everything I own before letting someone take it from me. I tend to be forward-facing, which is both a strength and a weakness. What Video Game Character Are You?

I can live with this. I find it interesting the Mike the Marine is a Defender-Ship... kinda the nautical equivalent. He's blogspotted, so you'll have to scroll down to UP-UP-DOWN-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT-B-A-B-A-START

Anybody else get the email Blaster is talking about? I know I didn't!

Kim Du Toit has a post on what every combat soldier knows - as it applies to citizens who find themselves at the sharp end. For some more than others, the ghosts drop by to check in on you.

In the "Well Whattaya Know" category comes this bit from ABC's 20/20 - CCW does not increase crime... and gun control does not reduce it. Hat tip to Boots and Sabers. Kudos to Stossel!

Thanks to Mike L, we dance at Castle Argghhh!

Baldilocks gets it exactly. We're all 'Muricans. You can have your damn hyphen. Of course, I can say that, because as a DWEM-descendent, I'm not allowed ot have a hyphen. If I did, it would be Hiberno-Celt-Saxon-American. But nooooo, I'm not allowed to do that! America is a state of mind, not just a place. It's a big part of what makes us different, and in my mind, more successful than a goodly chunk of the rest of the world. Yeah, we gotta watch the rabid nativists - because they are more about the place, not the state of mind. And that's what makes the fight with the left so important - because they don't like the state of mind and want to collectivize it in ways that have failed all over. Feh. This is turning into a rant and I'm not in the mood.

The King of Fools has a little ridiculous piece of flesh* envy. Note to the King: it doesn't matter if you scoop them by weeks, the big bloggers end up getting the credit... as I've found out several times!

*Anyone know who that's quoting? Bueller? Anyone?

Jack discovers that pimping people, even in the comments of posts on someone elses blog works. Works for me, too.

I got light cycle/ Gauntlet adventurer. I think the latter choice is more accurate.
