Here's a present for Sgt Hook!

As many of you know, SGT Hook is getting his unit ready to deploy to Afghanistan.

The words are hard to read:

There you are, minding your own business while sitting comfortably in your Afghan chalet. A warming fire burns joyously on your open-air deck. You are diligently finishing up varioius odds 'n ends - checking your list once and then twice, cleaning your AK-47, and putting the final touches to your latest IED. The thing in the background of your mind is an expectation of Santa bringing you lots of virgins, when you hear the rushing sound of something moving through the air and tiny little feet on the roof... could it be... reindeer?

Be careful out there, Hook!

Thanks John! What a great shot! I've done only a few of these "pinnacle" landings in my career and they are hairy. The pilots have virtually no reference from their view point, so what you can't see in this photo is the flight engineer laying on his/her belly leaning out the front cabin door on the right side staring at those aft wheels and tlaking to the pilots (mostly words of reassurance) making sure they hold it steady. Damn, those were the days! Thanks again.

No, I can't see him, but I can remember him from when I did the damn troop ladder and the pilots were drifting to the rear faster than the ground guys could keep up. It's tough to get from the ladder to the ramp with a negative angle!
