I should hit 20,000 today. Not shabby for a relative newbie. C'mon people, let's at least get there before noon! After all, there is a new installment of Gun P0rn™ down there...
I wonder when my oversize ego is going to let me quit noticing the sitemeter...
At least the code glitch that NZ Bear had that wasn't catching the data when we migrated off of blogspot immunized me a little bit from getting wrapped around my ecosystem standing.
What's been interesting so far is that the stuff I'm most interested in is the least-commented on (as it's in the form of infomationa and doesn't always invite conversation) and is also the stuff least likely to generate a link.
I get most of my hits from a few big-timers blogrolls or people coming in directly from their "Favorites" - which indicates that I have a hard core group of people I appeal to, and unless I really want to market myself (nope - this is fun, I dont want to be a burnout like Rachel or now Mrs. du Toit) this is probably about as good as it gets.
I did go through a month with visions dancing in my head - but The Commissar and Ironbear have some pretty good analysis on how the blogosphere is evolving, and I don't have the interest to try and move up to being a Higher Being! Somewhere in the last three years of my military career the ambition light burned out.
I love being referred to as "hard core". ;)
*ahem* Um, ain't that *his* job?
Well - Instapundit was remarking about the number of hits he received yesterday, so I don't think you'll ever get over the numbers game *g*.
As for ambition - I have far less than you do since I find it too much trouble to even think about starting my own blog. I can't imagine that anyone would ever visit with all the other good blogs to go to and it's much easier to be a serial poster - LOL.
You never get over the numbers game completly. Trick is to never take it or yourself too damned seriously.
I ramble all over the spectrum in post topics because I just write what catches my interest at the moment. I'm just egotistical enough to think that if it interests me, it *may* interest or entertain readers with a similar bent. If not, the next one. No makey.
Big thing is, I enjoy writing and playing with words, and as long as I enjoy it, I'll keep doing it. When I quit enjoying it, I take a break and do art or programming or 3D modeling or whatever... having a lot of hobbies means I'm seldom bored or burned out.
Well, I'm number 20,008, if that gives you any perspective, time-wise.
Yay! Thank you Dana! I beat the low standard I set for myself!
Gun p0rn and boobies.
Gets the numbers in, everytime. ;)
Congrats! I just hit 10K today, (I think).
I'm also looking for a tag line for the site. Stop by and vote on your favorite or suggest something.
