Fun and Frolic in the Great Not-Quite-Yet-White North...

CTC HQ's Sports Day. I believe this would be the Combat Training Center, Gagetown.

From CAPT H, of Her Majesty's Canadian Forces... this is apparently what he was up to today...

We are a fun bunch! Oh, temp -11c [call it 12.2F, or 262.15Kelvin if you want to feel warm. ed.] and the breeze was gusting to 25kph[call it 15.5343 Miles (statute) per hour . ed.].

Breeze. See? This is what we soldiers call 'fun'! Don't you wish you were there with the good captain? Preferably sitting in your nice, warm, armored HMMWV, handing out coffee?

You know you do! Lookit all the smiling faces!

Call me crazy, but that does look like fun. But then I grew up in Northern Ontario and used to have fun going cross country skiing when it was a good deal colder than -12 C....

John - Today I was waiting for the bus to go to work here in Chicago. It was 36 degrees and raining sideways with a 20mph wind.

Some other commuter at the bus stop asked me why I was laughing...I didn't know how to tell him that I was laughing because in 20 minutes I would be out of that *shit* weather, whereas a few years ago, I would have spent 5 or 6 days surviving in it (just dying for a hot cup of coffee).

I am with Dr. Funk on this one. Growing up in Ontario my family would do this in -20°C to -50°C every winter weekend to go birdwatching. Of course, this is why I am the man I am today.
