The Tank in Iraq

Okay, as I've noted elsewhere, I knew about the tank hit by seemingly odd round weeks ago. I've had a copy of the unclassified report on the issue for about the same time. I was actually asked for an opinion on what might have caused it. I proffered one, which is being looked at. I won't go over it here, no point in giving people ideas they might not already have.

Anyway, I sat on this, but now that it's been published and so have some of the pictures, I'll give you an edited version of the report, showing the pictures that went with it, there being no reason to hold it back, since Fox, Army Times, CNN, etc all have a larger readership than I do!

{snip}

Update: Never mind. I see the whole memo is "in the wild" now, so it doesn't matter anymore. If you'd like to see the whole thing, go read it at Blackfive's place!

Strategy page says it has been solved here is the link

Here is the beginning of what they wrote.
The "Mystery Projectile" that caused the penetration of an M-1 tanks side armor was probably a Russian RPG-7V or similar type light anti-tank rocket with a HEAT warhead

I've had it for awhile, too. But when I saw the news article, I decided to post it.

Oh, I understand completely! And, if I'd been stateside, I'd have posted too. But, given that I still am "in the business" I feel I need to play by a different set of rules. No criticism implied or intended!

I know what the strategy page says - but I'm still not convinced. And that's okay - I'd rather disinform the bastards and make 'em keep guessing!

I remember them saying before the war that the Iraqi's might have been supplied with a new Russian missle that they thought could take our tanks out, and it was infrared. Do not remember the name but the Russians said they had not, but no one believed them.
